Transitions and Transformations

In Affirmation, Creativity, Intention, Retreat by adminLeave a Comment

Dear Friends,   On Saturday, September 22, an incredible group of women gathered to celebrate the fall equinox. To honor the transition of the long hot days of summer welcoming in the cooler shorter days of fall. We were blessed to have the opportunity to sit in circle and walk the sacred land near the Tonto National Forest. While locally in Arizona the temps have continued to hover in the 100’s the hope and promise of what fall brings was collectively held in our hearts. My friend and collaborator of the Harvest Home day retreat and I, intentionally chose this …

Do You Ever Feel Like This?

In Retreat, Self-Reflection by adminLeave a Comment

As if there were a time thief lurking in the shadows under the blanket of night. An entity silently waiting for your head to hit the pillow. Listening patiently for the tell of your breath that you’ve succumbed. Slipped through and fallen down under. Then it silently reaches out its invisible hand and snatches your seconds away. When upon waking, faster than you can mutter Rip Van Winkle, whole minutes, days, weeks and months have simply vanished. Because friends, that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. I woke up this morning to find that April, May, and June have disappeared and July …

Saluti Cari Cuori (Greetings Dear Hearts)

Spero che stiate tutto bene. (I hope you are all well.) Ho avuto una brutta influenza. (I’ve had a nasty flu.) E sto prendendo lezioni di Italiano. (And, I’m taking Italian classes.) Let’s just say thank goodness for google translate because at my age learning a language does not come easy! What was I thinking? I suppose I was thinking that somehow I’d hear a word or phrase that held the secret to unlocking my Italian lineage. Then magically my DNA would spring into action and just like that I’d be fluent. Ha ha… not yet anyway. Though to be …

Guess Who I Found In the Middle Of A Maelstrom?

In Meditation, Psychology, Retreat, Yoga by admin16 Comments

More of Me. “What’s she talking about?” you might be asking. Perhaps you’ve noticed I’ve been incognito the past few months. Many of you have sweetly reached out inquiring as to my where about. Much appreciated. Today I’m here to tell you that I’ve been smack dab in the center of a serious health concern. A couple in fact. One thing I’ve learned is that you can be certain that life is uncertain. Unpredictable. At any given moment we are greeted with great joy, faced with immense suffering, and met with neutrality. Often within seconds. Or three breaths. Several years …

Oh My Gosh – It was Crazy!

In Meditation, Retreat, Yoga by adminLeave a Comment

I can’t sleep. Tossing and turning. My husband and dog softly snoring. I slip out of bed. Grab my water. Pad to my office on the other side of the house. Fire up my computer. Start writing.  Sometimes when I’m writing it’s agonizingly slow. But tonight I’m in a rhythm. Words flowing in the dark of night. A distant rumble. And then a herd of elk pounding across the roof. No. It’s a micro-burst. Wait. Are there people stampeding. I think the foam roof is being ripped off. What the heck. Could it be an earthquake? From the sky? I …

The Number One Way to Decide – “Is This Really For Me?”

In Meditation, Retreat, Self-Reflection, Yoga by adminLeave a Comment

Because tons of choices can be bad for your health. It’s 108 degrees out and I’m sitting at a table in an air-conditioned Starbucks waiting for my assistant. And, for my body temperature to cool down so that I can make a somewhat coherent decision. I’m not a Starbucks junkie or frequent flyer. But it’s a great location for us to meet and get some work done. Staring at the menu items my head spins with the drink options. New -Cold Brew Coffee. Iced Caramel Macchiato. Espresso Con Panna. Evolution Fresh Cold-Pressed Juice. Handcrafted Fizzio Soda… What the heck? And …

The Gnarly Rocky Road of Life

In Creativity, Psychology, Retreat, Self-Reflection, W.O.R.T.H., Yoga by adminLeave a Comment

The red dirt path takes a quick right turn. It’s filled with with rocks of various shapes and sizes that forces me to look down in order not to tumble. Making a little game of it I jump over and around the river rock. About a mile into the forest storm clouds form above the swaying tops of the Ponderosa pines. Thunder rumbles in the distance. Gathering force it shocks the stillness as lightening slashes across the sky, warning me that soon the monsoon rains will soak the parched earth. My emotions reflect the turbulent weather. I plunge ahead. The …

I stepped right into the center of…

The plane smoothly touches the tarmac and glides to an abrupt stop. My heart pounds fiercely against my chest. Slowly I release the white-knuckle grip I have on my husband’s arm. I look into his smiling eyes and we grin like children. “We’re here!” we exclaim in unison. Waiting for our bags at the bustling Rome airport I do a 360 degree turn, reveling in the diversity. My ears literally perk up to the lyrical sound of Italian, familiar American English, the sexy smoothness of French, and on it goes. I’m twirling on a merry-go-round of language, texture, smell, and sight. And oh my gosh, I’m still in the airport! Rolling our luggage to the street we scope out the …
